About the event
This Is a funded event available to all.
Intent: Build social skills and connections (i.e. sense of belonging). Building Friendships Orienteering for KS2.
Venue: Chadderton Hall Park
Teams: Teams of two, Groups can go off in pairs or groups of four.
Two Pairs Per entry.
Brief: Orienteering involves using a map to navigate a local area to find given points. Children can do this in pairs as a group, with or without adult instruction. This is decided by the adult responsible for their children. The course is simple and all points can be seen from a distance. Some groups will be given a walkie talkie and all groups will have whistles.
Children complete 6 mini maps to asses their map reading skills before using a large scale map of a selection of the park. Children visit set points with adult supervision to assess map reading skills. Children can be challenged to visit points independently.
This Event builds confidence, self esteem, self belief and social skills.
Orienteering encompasses the following school games values, teamwork, determination, self belief, respect and honesty.
